In addition to participating with the family-based CIA (Christians in Action) weekly mission projects, the Oak Grove Baptist Student Ministry offers Mission Challenges locally, nationally, and internationally to share the love of Christ in very unique and creative ways. Throughout the years our students have served in places like Ocean City, Maryland; Glodini, Moldova; Frederick, MD; Lake Placid, NY; Montreal, Canada; Peterhead, Scotland; and currently San Miguel, Guatemala. We seek to make ongoing relationships with those we serve. Currently we have a three year connection with Guatemala and just returned this past March from an amazing adventure in missions.
Some of these mission trips lasted only two or three days while others ran for multiple weeks. We do our best to create on-going relationships with the Christian people we serve alongside in other places and return whenever possible.
It is our aim to challenge the teenagers to prepare their hearts, minds, spirits, and bodies for whatever God may have in store. It could be eating haggis in Scotland to sharing the Gospel through a Russian translator! Students can do all things through Christ who strengthens them (Philippians 4:13). We prepare months in advance for our longer trips and use music, Bible study, sports/recreation, drama, dance, and other tools to share the Gospel. We continue to pray about where God may lead us next… what is God calling you to do today?
