Our mission is to celebrate the greatness of God, connect to one another and commit to God’s mission (below is a short explanation of each piece).
Because this is our mission statement, we want to emphasize 3 environments for people to plug into:
- worship (celebrate),
- small groups (connect),
- and ministry (commit).
The classes (Life Development Process) then simply serve as tools to help people live out these three purposes in their own lives.
In Class 101, we connect people to the local church and help people understand our mission.
In Class 201, we give people the tools to grow daily in their relationship with Christ and others.
In Class 301, we give them the tools to help them discover their gifts and get involved in ministry.
Finally, in Class 401, we give them the tools to help them live daily on mission for Jesus.
Expressing our love to God in worship
God is so big and wonderful; therefore, we gather each week to celebrate His greatness, to learn more about Him, and to better understand His design for our lives.
We have several opportunities each weekend for worship.
People can enjoy a traditional style of worship with hymns and a more formal worship format, as well as, a more contemporary style of worship featuring a band, multimedia elements, and occasional dramas.
Either way, the message is very similar and focuses on how we can apply the Bible to our daily lives.
Enjoying community through small groups
Relationships are so important to us at Oak Grove.
We believe that everyone needs a place where they can enjoy community with others. Therefore, we have groups for all ages at Oak Grove.
Some of these groups meet on Sunday mornings and others meet during the week.
These groups study the Bible, pray for each other, serve together, and enjoy hanging out together.
Engaging the world with God’s love
Each person is uniquely shaped to serve God and others.
We all have various gifts, abilities and passions.
So we have hundreds of ministry opportunities at Oak Grove for people to plug into.
We have ministries for all ages (preschool, children, youth, college, adults, and mature adults) and ministry opportunities for everyone.
Oak Grove provides many ways to serve the community:
- Mission trips (domestic and abroad)
- Serving the homeless
- Helping Habitat for Humanity
- Visiting the elderly
- Community events such as our Easter Block Party, Harvest Festival, and an annual Christmas musical production.
