Oak Grove Baptist is getting ready to host our 8th Annual Women’s Conference on Saturday, March 24, 2018.
Over the years, we have brought women together from across Harford, Cecil, and Baltimore counties for praise and worship. A few of our speakers have included Renee Luther Dixon, a contestant from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, DeeDee Jonrowe, the world’s foremost female dog-sled musher, Laurie De Young, DJ on 93.1 WPOC, Erika Clark, a missionary targeting sex-trafficked victims, Marie Monville, the former wife of the shooter of the Amish children in Pennsylvania, and Laura Acuña, Christian counselor and ministry leader.
For 2018, our featured speaker is Dani Pettrey, a celebrated Christian author and speaker who will be speaking on “Why God Keeps Us In Suspense.

“Why God Keeps Us in Suspense”
“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
To Him be glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:36 ESV
What woman doesn’t love to read a book or watch a movie that entails romance with high risks and edge of your seat suspense? It’s that moment that keeps us guessing and wondering who is behind that dark unopened door and how a heinous criminal will be brought to justice. We all crave it like sharing a good bowl of popcorn with someone we love and an extra soft set of blankets.
But what about when you find yourself facing real life suspense? There is no pause button or option to return the book. It’s not fun when it feels like God has flipped the switch and we frantically pat each wall trying to turn it back on. That’s when faith comes in.
Dani Pettrey is quite the thrill seeker. She’s checked heli-skiing, cave diving, and storm kayaking off her bucket list, but she’s still not done. Her occupation includes detective work with the FBI, criminal investigations, and forensic anthropology. Well, at least that’s what she writes about. Author of eight novels, she has sold over 300,000 copies of her books. When she’s not inventing stories of inspirational romance and risky situations, she fulfills her role as wife and mom to two daughters, a son-in-law, and two grandsons.
With her pen, Dani can dictate each action of her characters, but in real life, she struggles with relinquishing control. She has to remind herself daily, like most women, who’s really in control. Handing her worries over to God in exchange for peace that passes all understanding has made all the difference.
The conference will also feature the beautiful voice of worship leader, Tina Testerman.
